My history of hiking is riddled with people adding rogue weight to my packs to slow me down. It took a child to effectively do it, and I may never hike with the jack rabbit speeds that I have in times past because I never knew how much I was missing. Here is to a great pastime, fun activity, and an excellent way to spend time with your kids - hiking! I agree that slowing down does not mean that you are slowing down, but seeing more.
